The year of the MIGRAINE 2012

I decided to chart not only eating habits but how much sleep I got, how my mood was, or any other factors in a day that I felt I could chart that may help me find a pattern. Needless to say, I can't find a pattern and rather than bore you with those minuscule details, I thought it would be interesting for some people to visually see what my daily life has been like since January. I also tracked how intense the migraines were but for the sake of not making this post too long, I'll just list the days I had a migraine and the days I was "normal".  I also listed if I was in town (which will just be blank and not state a city) or out of town because it shows it's not privy to being in Utah which some people think I get them because of air quality. If I had a migraine that day it will have a M next to the day, if I felt normal there will be a smiley face: IF ANYONE SEES A PATTERN, LEAVE A COMMENT, THANKS!!

  1. Hey girl, I feel your pain but not quite to this extent. You poor thing! I started tracking my migraines when they seemed out of control and too frequent and saw that there was some pattern. Def near my period and the worst ones while I was ovulating. When I was pregnant I had almost zero migraines and if I had a headache it felt different like a pressure headache so I then knew for sure my headaches/migraines were hormone related. Not sure if I can technically call them migraines but that whole being in a dark room, affected by light, smell and movement...head throbbing like hell and finally puking my guts out thing felt pretty close to what a migraine sounded like. After I have my babies I feel them in full force and have so many as my hormones start to regulate. I think nursing makes it worse. As soon as I ween the baby I begin to feel like my migraines go back to a few times a month. I used to try cutting things from my diet and saw no difference. Exercise makes a big difference for me. The migraines are not so severe. Usually when I feel one coming on I take 4 ibuprofen to take the edge off and if that does not work I drink something with caffeine. That's me! ....Hate these darn migraines!! I pray we find some real answers.

  2. So you're saying I should have a baby? ;) I've thought about it but if it truly helped my migraines, I would be like Michelle Duggar and have 19 kids lol

  3. Tara, this is so randomn but I think birth control can be one of the worst things you can do to your body. It messed Keri up so bad. After she went to the hormone specialist the Dr. made her promise to NEVER take birth control again. I realize that is not an easy thing to do, but I am just thinking out loud here, and I wonder if that would make any kind of difference. Have you noticed any kind of a pattern or did they get worse after you started the "pill?" Have you tried getting off of them and letting them get out of your system to see if that helps? You probably have done all of the above, but I just keep trying to think of things to try. I will keep reading and thinking and hopefully someone somewhere can help you find an answer.

    1. Tina-
I went off birth control after I got my health insurance, for those "just in case" moments but now that I'm married, if I get pregnant I'm covered! So far, it's only been about 7 weeks since I have been off but we will see how it goes. I'll keep you posted!

  4. Tara this was such a great idea. I know you said that it didn't seem to come out with a pattern, but still it will be helpful! I have actually done this exact same thing since I was diagnosed with MS in July 2012. But in a journal, but such a better idea about putting it on the computer in order to sort/filter and all that jazz.. I'm going to continue to do this everyday because the more data you have the better off you'll be. I know it seems like its taking forever, but no matter what this type of info will help you find out faster than you would without it..
